AT&T /T-Mobile Merger On The Rocks After Leaked Email Suggests Competition Elimination
AT&T might be interested in creating a monopoly – all over again as the jabbing parody on the merger of AT&T and T-Mobile suggests, titled Back To The 80s. Fact of the matter is that this is exactly what the merger is about. A leaked email suggests that to oust Sprint from the competition, AT&T is offering $39 billion to T-Mobile to have market domination.
An AT&T legal staffer inadvertently posted a damning internal document to the FCC’s docket for the pending AT&T/T-Mobile merger. The document makes it clear that “AT&T is giving Deutsche Telekom $39 billion primarily to reduce market competition” and that the company’s claims of bigger network buildouts and increased employment are completely false: placing the basis for the merger pretty much in quicksand.
