Pakistan’s First Oscar Nomination: Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Raising The Flag For Pakistan (VIDEO)
Oscars are just a few days away and stars like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Meryl Streep aren’t the only ones excited and preparing for the big night. In fact this night holds enormous importance for Pakistan too, as a Pakistani filmmaker, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s documentary ‘Saving Face’ has broken all barriers to be Pakistan’s first ever Oscar nomination.
Sharmeen is a 33-year-old Pakistani filmmaker who found her passion while studying and working for over a decade in the US, a passion that led her back home to Pakistan. She says that she came back to her home country because it was the responsibility of educated individuals like her, to come back and return something to their country.
