O – The Oprah Magazine Faces Ads Drops Of About 13.4 Percent
With her show (Oprah Winfrey Show) wrapped up and her infantile OWN cable network experiencing some serious growth issues, seems like Oprah is losing her captive viewers. The magazine industry as a whole saw an ad sales drop by 7 percent for this upcoming August, but the Media Industry Newsletter, Hearst’s second-most-profitable title, O, the Oprah Magazine’s sales dropped to almost one-third. The cause behind this drop is partly because the women’s lifestyle category is particularly hard hit, with Martha Stewart Living‘s numbers down 14 percent and EveryDay with Rachael Ray down 25 percent. But while most publications regained their footing in September, O’s ad pages for that month were still 18 percent down from last year. These numbers may be staggering; fleeing advertisers may signal a more distressing exodus of readers. MORE

Arnold Schwarzenegger Pleas The Judge To Terminate Maria Shriver’s Spousal Support Request
After Schwarzenegger’s love child scandal, 13-year-old Joseph with housekeeper Mildred Baena, the Governator and wife Maria Shriver filed for a divorce. In her original filing, 55-year-old Shriver asked for spousal support in her petition. But in court documents filed yesterday by Schwarzenegger’s lawyer, Bob Kaufman, he checked the box asking the judge to refuse Shriver spousal support. William Shatner, the veteran actor had boldly joined Google+ (straying away from Facebook) only to find himself being banned from the search engine’s burgeoning social network.

South Africa Celebrates Nelson Mandela’s 93rd Birthday
The Nelson Mandela Foundation, backed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, said that it wanted Mr. Mandela’s birthday celebration to be an inspiration to people to make the world a better place. The foundation has urged people to do 67 minutes of voluntary work on the day. This would represent the 67 years of devotion that Mandela gave to South Africa’s political struggle.
