The first Presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney took place at the University of Denver, Colorado, on October 3rd. In Truth Serum this Week: President Zardari’s sudden departure from the country has the world abuzz about the potential of a silent coup in Pakistan. A Foreign Policy article posed several questions about the circumstances and timing of Zardari’s departure. Zardari’s spokesperson and PPP officials are dismissive of the rumors and claim that he is having a routine medical checkup done in Dubai and will be back in the country in a few days. The next few days will determine as to whether anything significant will change in Pakistan but the noose has been tightening around Zardari with the memo gate scandal and the reopening of the NRO cases. Complicating matters further are the deteriorating Pakistani relationship with the United States.
