Race Of The Century: China Or India, The Next Economic Superpower?

In the conclusive phase of the 20th century, soon-to-be US president George W Bush was asked who the Indian leader was. His reply: “The new prime minister of India…..No”. Similar was the perception of people all around the world regarding China and Chinese who were commonly referred to as ‘opium drinkers’.
However, times have changed, and that also quite rapidly. Now, it is unlikely that historians will look back this century and find Western leaders happy and satisfied with their ignorance of the two most populous nations of the world.
