Alright, we’re not trying to say this play isn’t amazing. The move 21-year-old Pumas player Javier Cortes makes, three moves actually, are breathtaking to watch, but there’s a lot of luck involved in the play. After one nice juke in the video, Cortes nutmegs (soccer lingo for kicked the ball through a defenders’ legs) two players in a row, which you don’t ever see done successively like that. Why? Because it typically doesn’t work, and is plain stupid to try. Which is why we think the nutmegs are actually accidental, and the result of Cortes being a bit out of control with the ball and extremely lucky that the opposing defenders put up some of the worst defense seen in professional play in years.
