Etain Kidney proposed to her girlfriend Michelle Walls on Wednesday by beaming “Michelle, will you marry me?” onto the wall of the Boland’s Mill building at Grand Canal Dock in Dublin.
Proposition 8 Declared Unconstitutional Cheers Gay Marriage Supporters
A federal appeals court has declared California’s 2008 voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional. It even concluded that the ban did nothing more than to ‘lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians.’
The 2-1 ruling by the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals was narrowly written to limit its scope to California’s borders and [possibly even avoid review by the Supreme Court. However, gay-rights advocates are hailing Tuesday’s decision as historic, while supporters of Proposition 8 immediately vowed to appeal.
The court did not expand on the constitutional rights of gays and lesbians, instead, based their decision on a 1996 US Supreme Court precedent that stated that a said majority may not take away the rights of a minority without legitimate reasons.

Cynthia Nixon Clarifies, Says Bisexuality Is Not a ‘Choice’
The Salt and the City actress was the recipient of a lot of hue and cry for the LGBT community over her statement to The New York Times Magazine earlier this month. But now the openly bisexual star of The Advocate has come out and clarified her statement. Earlier in the month Cynthia had made a comment saying that bisexuality ‘is a choice’. “For me, it is a choice,” she had said of being in a relationship with Christine Marinoni, who she plans to marry and has a child with. Previously, Cynthia was in a heterosexual relationship with a man for over 15 years and had two kids from that relationship.
