Texas’ Nightmare: Angels Sign Hamilton To 5 Year, $125 Million Deal
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have agreed to sign Josh Hamilton to a 5 year, $125 million deal, once again, laying relatively low and then snatching up the offseason’s biggest position player prize. It’s likely to be an overpay over the life of the contract, but the Angels are in full win-now mode after last year’s spending spree that brought in Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. Hamilton joins a stacked lineup that includes Pujols, the best player of the last decade, and Mike Trout, the best player last year. Hamilton’s signing is an especially big sting for the Texas Rangers who both see their biggest lineup monster leave, only to go to a major AL West rival who they will play 18 times a year.
