In one of the most violent scenes in NASCAR memory, Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer instigated a brawl in the garage area at the Phoenix International Raceway. The scene goes something like this: with seven laps remaining, Bowyer clipped Gordon, and Gordon slid hard into the wall.
Former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was arrested at his home in North Carolina and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The former Sprint Cup driver has had highly-publicized bouts with drugs in the past, as he was barred from NASCAR in 2009 after failing a drug test, but what police found Tuesday night when they arrested Mayfield, may indicate that he has hit rock bottom.

Two sources have told the Associated Press that Danica Patrick is close to securing a deal to drive in the NASCAR Nationwide Series full time. The Nationwide deal would be with JR Motorsports, and would still allow Patrick the opportunity to run in the Indianapolis 500, despite schedule conflicts that may arise. MORE

Kyle Busch apologized several times Thursday for showing a “lack of judgment” driving 128 mph in a 45 mph zone in a borrowed 2012 Lexus LFA.
