China’s Top Security Official Visits Pakistan Amidst U.S. Allegations
Last week got Pakistan in a state of frenzy when top U.S. military officer, Adm. Mike Mullen accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI), of supporting an Afghanistan insurgent group, the Haqqani group, who are suspected of involvement in an assault on the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan on September 13. They are also suspected of the truck bomb that wounded 77 American soldiers days earlier. Pakistan’s most powerful man, Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, dismissed the allegations as “baseless.”
