Euro 2012: After Octopus, Its Elephants and Pigs

Football is one serious sport, considered either in terms of strategy making or the emotional attachment that people have with it. Not surprisingly, the level of seriousness associated with the game sometimes borders on the absurd end.

The same level of absurdness was demonstrated during FIFA World Cup 2010 when an octopus named as Paul gained immense fame and adoration. His claim to fame you ask? He was really, really good predicting the results of World Cup matches. In fact his results were all spot on when he accurately predicted the result of eight matches, including Germany’s run in the semifinals and Spain’s victory in the finals.

Nike Gathers The Best of Football For The Latest ‘My Time Is Now’ Advert

It just cannot get any better than this. Nike has always been known for making star-laden adverts for every major football tournament, and with their latest ad Euro 2012, there seems to be no exception. In their latest ‘My Time Is Now’ advert reputed sports brand has once again gathered the elite of football.

The ad opens with a match between France and Netherlands, when in a split second the field is stormed by a gaggle of young talent, including the likes of players like Mario Gotze and Brazilian sensation Neymar.

Well look no further, the bobsled freakout is the ultimate of people losing it. the man in question is on a bobsled, which runs down the chute at the La Plagne Olymptic bobsled track in France. To say that his journey is traumatic would be putting it lightly. He screams from start to finish and in stark terror.

This little, adorable Liverpool fan pokes his own eye while celebrating Liverpool’s record 8th title, beating a heroic and valiant Cardiff on penalties in the League Cup final at the new Wembley. Liverpool as you know if Britain’s most successful club and has won 5 major, domestic cup competitions since they last visited Wembley in 1996. Only Chelsea has managed to out beat that with 8.

The video featured on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel was made public this week and featured none other than Jeb Corliss. Earlier this year, Corliss was involved in a wingsuit accident that broke both his legs.

NFL Playoff Schedule 2012 And just like that, the professional football season is over. Not to worry, though, as the postseason starts next weekend with some great games on the horizon. Here is the complete NFL playoff schedule:

The 2012 wild card round kicks things off on January 7 at 4:30 p.m. ET when the AFC South champion Houston Texans take on the No. 6 seeded Cincinnati Bengals in Houston. At 8 p.m. the Detroit Lions – who are making their first trip to the playoffs since 1999 – will have the task of playing the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. Both of these games will play on NBC.

Organizers, architects and builders have been running a race against time with their insane deadlines along with severe economic conditions. Their task is to have the venue fit and ready to host the world’s largest sporting spectacle. And these videos show that they are nearly there. The Olympic Park in east London is about 90% complete and is expected to be finished early next year.

Barry Bonds Sentencing: Two Years Probation, 30 Days Home ConfinementAttorneys for former San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds were successful Friday in keeping the former MLB NL MVP out of prison, but say they will appeal the judge’s decision.

During the 11 a.m. sentencing for Bonds’ obstruction of justice conviction in connection with the BALCO steroids scandal, the former Giants player was given two years probation and 30 days home confinement, in addition to 250 hours of community service.

“It’s the only way you’re going to win, and we know that,” said point guard Stephen Curry, who added 10 pounds of bulk in the offseason. “Offensive talent’s going to get you 36 wins, that’s about it. We have to figure out another way to get that done so defense is what it’s going to take.”
